The Wild One Harness excels in comfort and fit. The best words to describe the material is “stretchy and squishy”. The soft stretch polyester material is gentle on the dog's skin, preventing chafing during long walks or training sessions. With four adjustment points, it allows for a snug and secure fit, accommodating dogs of various shapes and sizes. We noticed a bit of bunching in the back of the harness on some dogs, which is not always avoidable. This was a minor concern, but improved with adjustments to the fit.
My favorite feature about this harness is the 3rd clip. Most harnesses only include 2 clips and require you to put your dog’s head through a pre-fitted hole. Many dogs are head shy and get nervous when putting on a harness. By providing the additional clip on the neckline, you can put the harness on and off without stressing the dog.
Durability
In terms of durability, the Wild One Harness holds up well under regular use. The materials and stitching are robust, although not as rugged as some other high-end harnesses on the market. For everyday use, it performs admirably, but I would be cautious with excessive rough play or in harsh outdoor conditions.
Wild One recommends hand washing or using a delicate cycle on the washer because the material can pill if thrown into a normal load of laundry. They also recommend air drying to maintain the material better.
Ease of Use
One of my favorite aspects of the Wild One Harness is its ease of use. The design is straightforward, making it simple to put on and take off (due to its extra clips). The buckles are secure yet easy to operate, which is a huge plus during busy training sessions.
The only downside in my book is that there is a bit of extra material to manage. For dogs with small necks, the material can overlap but this is easily manageable.
Safety Features
Safety is paramount when choosing a harness. The buckles and leash attachments are strong enough to withstand everyday pressure, but the harness is lacking in other safety features. There are no reflective elements to increase visibility on night walks or attachment points for lights.
By providing a front leash attachment point, it offers greater control when walking a dog that pulls, but I find it hard to understand the purpose of 2 attachment points on the back. Most harnesses only include one and suffices.
Versatility
The Wild One Harness is quite versatile, suitable for both casual walks and more structured training exercises. Its lightweight and comfortable design make it a good option for various activities, though it might not be the best choice for more rugged outdoor adventures. The multiple leash attachment points make it a great option for training, as well as everyday use.
